NATHAN MCGLYNN

Defining himself as ‘a gay Melbourne based exhibiting artist’, Nathan McGlynn focuses his practice on figurative painting revolving around the tender depictions of his charactor the ‘Darling Boy’. Through 8 solo exhibitions (‘so far’) McGlynn has highlighted the queer narrative of the Darling Boy which he further explores through collaborations with creatives of other disciplines in which the shows have held dance performances, plays, installations and more all relating to his theme.

On top of his art practice McGlynn has run queer art classes for young people in the community and in his upcoming exhibitions McGlynn continues to highlight queer stories and reinterpret traditional heterosexual paintings with a gay perspective adding a unique and inclusive dimension to his artistic repertoire.

DARLING BOY

Darling Boy is a series of exhibitions by multi visual artist Nathan McGlynn showcasing his figurative painting practice revolving around the tender depictions of his character the ‘Darling Boy’. The story of the darling boy is further explored through McGlynns collaborations with creatives of other disiplans. Inspired by impressionism the Darling Boy artworks celebrate the art mediums they’re made in, generating a sense of the scene and creating movement through their painterly compositions.

The opportunity to uplift Nathan and “Darling Boy” during our “CHOOSING LOVE’ launch party was beyond a pleasure for us at Queer Connect to further promote and connect a queer visual artist.
